My name is Chris. I am 23 years old. I grew up not very active and a little overweight. I played little league baseball as a kid. With my neighbors I used to also play a little bit of street hockey and joined a league at the nearby park for one season. I grew up in an area that wasn't fully developed, so there were fields around the neighborhood. With the neighbors, I used to build bike jumps in the fields. Eventually the neighbors moved away and I stopped riding bikes for a while. Then, one day, I decided to go back to the jumps and see how they were doing and that is when I met two new guys who were into riding bikes. Eventually one of the new guys got an old mountain bike from his uncle and I took my moms old mountain bike she never rode and we started to do some mountain biking in the local mountains. Then we decided we wanted to do a race so I searched online and found a thing called a triathlon and saw that there was a swim and a bike and a run all in one race. I told my buddy about it and we both decided to try it out. Once I decided to do my first triathlon I asked my dad if I could use his old road bike and he said yes. It was too big for me, but I managed to ride it anyways. After using it for my first few races I sold my truck to get money for a new tri bike. I knew I had been bitten by the Triathlon bug once I did that. In addition to racing triathlons, I also race mountain bikes. I bought a used 03 Specialized Epic Comp from someone in late 2005 and had a lot of fun on that until I bought a '07 Epic Marathon Carbon in early 2008. The main race series I compete in is the 12 hours of Temecula series. I really enjoy racing and training and all the camaraderie that comes along with it.
